the part of the american dream chasing after the ‘happily ever after’ story is the same part that vehemently tries to maintain the dillusion that we are entitled to all that’s sweet without having to experience the bitter.

ironic as it might be, spending hours pouring over text on a computer screen and synthesizing ideas and thoughts - WRITING - moves in me a feeling that something is being born into the world, refined and tested. is the virtual existence of these ideas in the a-space of my hard drive an ironic tribute to the immeasurable amounts of energy i (we) spend contemplating ‘life’, just to be filed and forgotten in a space without access to the real world?

The last aspect of culture shock I anticipated to experience was too much ‘communality’.

Sharing things does not mean catering to the lowest common denominator in order to acheive compromise. 

How big of a person do you have to be in order to be flexible in a situation where many things are shared?

A search of the word ‘sweet’ in my music library yielded the following artists: Bonobo, Django Reinhardt, Chatham County Line, Paul Nice, RJD2 and Thievery Corporation. Sweet tenderness appeals to all types.
